Why your website brings no enquiries: 12 reasons in order of frequency
In short

  • The most common cause is that nobody visits the site. Look at the numbers first.
  • Second most common: the wrong people visit — there is traffic, but the intent is different.
  • Third: the enquiry never arrives, because the form silently fails.
  • Design and button colours belong at the end of the list, not the start.

Here they are in order, ranked by how often we actually run into them.

Start with the numbers

1. There is no traffic. Forty visitors a month will not produce enquiries at any conversion rate. Open your analytics: if the figure has two digits, the site is not the problem.

2. The traffic is off-target. People arrive on an informational query while you sell a service. Check Search Console for the queries you are actually found on.

3. The form does not work. Test it yourself, from a phone. We regularly find sites where enquiries went for six months to the mailbox of an employee who left.

Then the substance

4. It is unclear what you do. A first screen reading “comprehensive solutions for your business” says nothing.

5. There is no price. A range at least. “Price on request” filters out half your audience — people do not want a phone call to learn a number.

6. There is no proof. Case studies, reviews with names, result figures. A site without them is a promise with no backing.

7. It is unclear what happens next. The visitor does not know whether they will be called back today or added to a mailing list.

Then the mechanics

8. The form is too long. Six fields where two would do.

9. There is no alternative channel. Part of your audience never fills in forms — they want a messenger.

10. The site is awkward on a phone. Two thirds of traffic is mobile, and the button is only visible on desktop.

11. Slow loading. Every extra second before content appears costs you a share of visitors.

12. The page does not look trustworthy. No contacts, no company details, stock photos instead of your team.

How to work through this

In order. That matters: most people start at number twelve, repaint the buttons and wonder why nothing changed. First confirm that traffic exists, that it is on target, and that the enquiry arrives. Then the substance. Presentation last.
